Snowboard protections are a very important piece of equipment. They prevent fractures and at the same time make you feel protected to be able to try new tricks and push your level to the max. In recent years, the materials with which the protections are made have made great strides. Thanks to the inclusion of D3O gel, the protectors are more comfortable, they mold better to the body and impacts are completely cushioned by this revolutionary gel. The dilatant polymers of which D3O is made, when subjected to impact, distribute the energy received throughout the material thanks to their elastomeric properties. This leads to a rapid hardening of the material in the event of a strong impact, but to a relative malleability and softness if handled carefully and slowly. The hardening of the material takes place in a very short time, in the order of a hundredth of a second. After hardening, if the material is not subjected to further efforts, it restores its original state, so it behaves like a "shape memory material". It has a low density (therefore "light"). It can be used in temperatures ranging from -55°C to 120°C. It also has no toxicity. Almost all the protections of the best brands today are made of D30 gel, but there are also classic plastic protections.
