The ION Raid Amp pedal shoe features an asymmetrical shaft including the Ankle_Pad to add protection on the crank side. The specific sole called SupTraction Rubber Soul FL (FL for flat pedal) with EVA midsole shows areas dedicated to pedals. They extend from the ball of the foot to the end of the midfoot area. The toe and heel areas are shaped with special specific zones to ensure maximum pedal traction when climbing. The second focus during development was on the right mix of stiffness in the longitudinal axis and flexibility in the lateral axis: A flat pedal shoe must provide the optimum power transmission in the longitudinal axis when pedaling. On the lateral axis, a certain flex is required to prevent the foot from tilting on the pedal, while still allowing effective driving impulses. All this allowing a comfortable foot roll. The toe of the Raid Amp is made of synthetic leather. In the toe area, a pre-shaped hard toe protects the foot when hitting rocks or roots. An insole (2C insole) supports the arch of the foot in the central area and adds some cushioning in the heel area.
