Technical information

The Duotone Grip 4 D/LAB is a windsurf board built with the most modern technologies. The FULL CUSTOM CNC exclusive for DUOTONE. Each EPS block is CNC milled. This ensures maximum precision and saves weight. Instead of joining the PVC sandwich with the EPS core in one go, the upper and lower PVC screens with the EPS core are vacuum sealed separately. Furthermore, instead of using standard 3mm PVC elements for the entire board, thicker and thinner PVC plates are used depending on the stress areas, which makes the board lighter but at the same time more durable. The most sophisticated layup consisting of more than 60 individual parts and components is used on all D/LAB boards (nearly 20% more parts than used for SLS Premium Sandwich construction). All carbon fibers used are a mix of high strength and high modulus carbon qualities depending on the individual requirements of each section of the board. Innegra is a high modulus propylene with unbeatable tensile and dent resistance. It offers similar tensile strength to Kevlar, but is significantly stiffer. Additionally, Innegra is the best composite fiber for preventing dents. The Grip 4 D/LAB uses the unique high performance S_GLASS+ with an extra high silica content which offers much higher tensile strength and approximately 10-20% greater stiffness. And finally the exclusive DUOTONE SENTEX resin impregnated with silicon nanospheres which helps us further reduce weight without sacrificing durability. Last but not least, every single board size has an individual layup. This is the final stage of individualization in construction. The result speaks for itself as the D/LAB tables are approx. 500 grams lighter than SLS boards and up to a kilo lighter than other mass-produced boards. All this is achieved without any sacrifice in terms of durability. GRIP D/LAB boards are continually evolving designed and built to suit the best of the best in all types of spots around the world, from jump-oriented side-on conditions to down-the-line conditions. The Duotone GRIP 4 D/Lab with its Quad fin configuration offers maximum guidance and grip for demanding rail to rail turns, even in XXL waves.
