Nidecker was founded in 1887 in Etoy, Switzerland and specialized in wood bending mainly selling wooden wheels. After a century spent developing ski equipment, he began in 1982 with the production of monoski recognizing in these years a new wave in winter sports and started the production of snowboards. The first 50 boards were made by hand, by 1985 they had already sold over 700 snowboards mainly in Switzerland and France. Only a year later he created his first team of athletes who won the Alpine World Cup. From 1987 he began to produce new models every year, bringing the company into full expansion thanks to new projects such as the asymmetrical snowboard "The Concept". Nidecker began to expand its sales to 25 countries by revolutionizing its factory which, in 2007 thanks to the collaboration with the University of Bern, began to develop new techniques for welding wood. The partnership created a new manufacturing process that made it possible to combine wooden cores without glue. Using Nidecker technology he produced the lightest snowboard in the world at the time, the Ultralight, which won first prize in the EuroSIMA New Technology 2009 category. From making ladders and wagon wheels, to skis and then snowboards, Nidecker currently manages five leading brands in action sports and, for its continuous product innovations, the Nidecker Group collects over 15 design awards each year and continues to grow each brand internationally.
