Obey

Obey clothing was founded on Shepard Fairey's art, design and ideals. It all began with the creation of an absurd sticker in 1989 which over the years has evolved into a worldwide street art campaign. Meaning of Obey and rooted in the counterculture of punk rock and skateboarding but it also took its cue from popular culture, commercial marketing and political messages. Using reverse psychology she uses the word OBEY to bring attention to propagandists who want to bend the world at their orders. The clothing line was born in 2001 as an extension of Shepard's works. Using clothing as a canvas to spread her art and her message to people. The lines are inspired by military design, work clothes and of course the incredible graphics created by Shepard.
