Founded in Redmond, WA. in late 1992, RIDE hit the market with just four board models and one vision: to create a snowboard company "for the people" based on technical innovation, superior quality and "selling the dream". To meet the growing demand for snowboard and skateboard-influenced clothing, in 1994 Ride launched a line of outerwear and streetwear under the Cappel Clothing brand. Today, this line has evolved into a much more technical outerwear line, providing a phenomenal fusion of street fashion and snowboarding function known today as Ride Snowboards Outerwear. Since then the Cappel series has made its triumphant comeback in the Ride Outerwear 05/06 collection. Shortly after moving to Preston, Washington in 1995, RIDE launched the Preston brand of snowboard bindings. RIDE's proprietary technology has made Preston Bindings one of the best-known names in the industry. Eventually incorporating the Preston name into the RIDE line, today RIDE bindings are the market leader in aluminum bindings and are famous for light weight, durability, mobility and response. In collaboration with the Preston brand, the snowboard boot category for RIDE also planted its roots in 1995. From a rather meager start, the RIDE Boot program has grown into a standalone and award-winning collection. Today, with revolutionary design features like our In2grated construction with Body Active Intuition Liners, the RIDE boots are the lightest and shortest boots on the market, without a doubt. Also in 1995, Ride acquired the world's most respected snowboard manufacturer, Thermal Snowboards Inc. of Corona, California. Later known as Ride Manufacturing, the facility used state-of-the-art computer technology, aerospace engineering, aviation equipment and other cutting-edge techniques to design, test and manufacture the most advanced snowboards on the market. Today, Ride Manufacturing has expanded into a new facility in Asia, doubling the manufacturing space and equipment arsenal. Ride's snowboard program continues to design industry leading snowboards using its Thermal Construction Technology process and featuring unique performance innovations such as Cleave Edge ™, Slimewalls® and Carbon Array energy distribution. Taking technology to the next level, Ride now incorporates further "innovative" technologies such as Membrain ™, Pop Rods ™ and Pop Stixs ™ topsheets. Having recently moved to Seattle, WA., RIDE has never strayed from its original focus of technical innovation, superior quality and "selling the dream" and continues to maintain its distinctive brand identity within the snowboard market.
