Starboard

Starboard was founded in 1994 when pro windsurfer Svein Rasmussen joined New Caledonian shaper Jean Louis Colmas. Together they introduced wood technology into the mass production of windsurfing. The wooden windsurf boards were stronger, lasted longer and weighed up to 1 kg less than the market standard of the time. In 1999 Starboard introduced the "Go Board", a board specifically designed to make windsurfing easy for everyone to learn and progress. The beginner-centric entry-level board design concept was a major innovation for the Sport of Windsurfing which until then had primarily focused on developing high performance equipment.
