Ride Engine was created by waterman from Santa Cruz (CA), his creative ingenuity and a deep reverence for the ocean thought of as Mother Nature's greatest playground. Coleman Buckley graduated from Stanford with a degree in biology in 2010 before returning to Santa Cruz to reconnect with his roots and consider his future... and to surf. As the months passed, Buckley, an avid tinkerer, began experimenting with designing kitesurfing harnesses. No harness on the market met his and his friends' expectations or demands, so he set to work creating one himself. In a makeshift workshop in his garage, Buckley experimented with different designs, dissecting various harnesses, sewing their components together, and bringing them to life in sunny California breaks. With the collaboration of friends and professional riders, it wasn't long before Buckley created something truly revolutionary: the Armor harness. Buzz about the rigid, fully customizable harness spread quickly, and Buckley unexpectedly found himself a busy entrepreneur and designer, struggling to meet demand for his sought-after products. In the fall of 2014 Buckley joined forces with 7-Nation, a board sports company based in the Pacific Northwest. With many more resources and collaborators from multiple industries at its disposal, Ride Engine quickly had the ability to expand and develop new product lines that extended into other action sports. Ride Engine launched three models of highly refined Armor harnesses to international markets in the summer of 2015, followed by a full line of wetsuits in the same season. Today, Ride Engine offers a complete line of watersports equipment, bags and accessories designed with care and attention, focused on sustainable growth into the future. Collaborating with the best has always been at the heart of Ride Engine, and as the company moves forward, that concept will remain an integral part of how it operates. Ride Engine partners and relies on the most experienced athletes in their sports to design high-quality products that help connect people with the activities that make them happy. And with these fundamentals at heart, the future is wide open.
